Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 Smartphone goes on pre-order for £470

The first retailer in the UK to put a Nokia Windows Phone 8 smartphone on pre-order is Digital-phone which has listed the Nokia Lumia 920 black for £470 (unbranded, unlocked and with free delivery) with stock expected on 16 October.
The phone, which was launched in New York a few weeks ago, is set to replace the Lumia 900 as Nokia’s flagship handset. Interestingly enough, Microsoft hasn’t yet announced when Windows Phone 8 (the operating system) will be officially launched, although we suspect that this will happen close to or soon after the 26 October arrival of Windows 8.

As for the Lumia 920 itself, it comes with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 system-on-chip clocked at 1.5GHz with LTE capabilities, 1GB of RAM, a 4.5in 1,280 x 768 display with ClearBlack technology and one of the best refresh rates of the industry, an 8-megapixel rear camera with a secondary 1.3-megapixel front facing one, 16GB onboard storage and more.
It’s worth noting that Nokia has souped up the smartphone by adding a few interesting features like the ability to use gloves or nails on the screen, built-in wireless charging, technology borrowed from its Pureview 808 handset and a number of Nokia-exclusive apps like the augmented reality City Lens.
